Ramiro Garza, Jr. is President of RG Economic Advisors, Inc. and NTB Development which provides a broad range of development experise to public, private and institutional clients in a range of practice areas including real estate, economic development and business development. Mr. Garza most recently served the Edinburg community for 15 years, first as Executive Director of the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and then as City Manager. Mr. Garza’s previously served as Economic Development Administrator for the City of Port Isabel and as a business development specialist for the former University of Texas Pan American One Stop Capital Shop working with communities in Cameron County to improve economic development as part of the Rio Grande Valley Empowerment Zone program, a Federal initiative during President Bill Clinton’s administration. Mr. Garza has served on and directed economic development councils throughout the region and his efforts have led to the creation of over 10,000 jobs and the investment of over $1.5 billion in Edinburg and South Texas. Mr. Garza has been a strong voice of progress in economic development efforts thoughout South Texas and has been a consistent advocate of working together as one region. His efforts along with other leaders in the region led to the formation of a regional economic development organization, Rio South Texas Economic Council. Mr. Garza has also been a longtime transportation advocate having served on the state advisory Interstate 69 State of Texas Advisory Committee. And, Mr. Garza has advocated for higher education and served a key role in the creation of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Medical School by working with his colleagues to come up with local community support and funding critical for the Medical School. A native of Port Isabel, Mr. Garza graduated from Port Isabel High School and obtained a Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Brownsville. He is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute from the University of Oklahoma and is certified in Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council. Mr. Garza is very active in state and local community affairs serving as Chairman in 2015 of the Rio South Texas Economic Council, former advisory board member of the Interstate 69 State of Texas Advisory Committee, board member of the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, Advisory Director of Lone Star National Bank, Texas Lyceum organization and former board member of Workforce Solutions–Lower Rio Grande Valley.
